Hempfield Fire
Department proudly protects over 15,000 people
living in an area of eight square miles.
Our first due response area covers East
Hempfield Township and portions of West
Hempfield and Rapho Townships.
We operate out of a
single station that protects a primarily
residential area. Our department is a private
department whose members are on a volunteer status.
The Hempfield Fire
Department was officially organized January
1, 1998. It is the result of the merger between the
Salunga Fire Company and the Volunteer Fire
Department of Landisville. (The two former stations
were located within a mile of each other on Main
Street.)
The new station
proudly sits at 19 Main Street in Salunga and
is one of the most technologically up-to-date
stations in Lancaster County. Outside of the station
is a beautiful park, with a pavilion available for
community rental.

How You Can Support the Hempfield Fire
Department
We are grateful for the strong support that we
receive from families and businesses all over
Hempfield.
Financial Support
We are always in need of financial support to ensure
that our equipment is in top shape, to train our
personnel, to offer fire safety classes in our
schools and to fund upkeep of our station. All
contributions are tax-deductible. To send your
support, mail your check (made payable to HFD) to
the Hempfield Fire Department, PO Box 429,
Landisville, PA 17538.
Become a Volunteer Firefighter
Our company is manned by 100% volunteers. Will you
help to protect our community by joining our
firefighting team? We provide complete training.
Serve with the Fire Police and Volunteer Services
Support the success of HFD by volunteering with the
Fire Police or other service opportunities. We train
for the volunteer position that interests you.
Become a Junior Firefighter
Students ages 15-17 can get a head start on their
firefighter service by training as a Junior
Firefighter with the Hempfield Fire Department.
Junior Firefighters are given important service
tasks as they learn the basics about firefighting.
